Some engagement sessions are beautiful because of the scenery.
Others are meaningful because of the story.
Nichole and Tim’s sandbar engagement session was the perfect combination of both.
When they told me they wanted their photos taken at one of their favorite sandbars in St. Petersburg, Florida, I immediately knew this session was going to be something special. There was just one catch—we couldn’t drive there.
Instead, we loaded up on their boat and cruised across the water to a secluded stretch of white sand that holds so many memories for them. As a Florida and destination wedding photographer, these are the kinds of sessions I love most because they aren’t just about taking beautiful pictures—they’re about documenting a place that’s part of your story.

One of the first questions couples ask me after booking is:
“Where should we take our engagement photos?”
My answer is almost always the same.
Choose somewhere that means something to the two of you.
Maybe it’s where you spend every Sunday morning, where you got engaged, your favorite hiking trail, the beach you visit every summer, or the marina where you keep your boat.
Years from now, you’ll remember much more than how your engagement photos looked—you’ll remember how that place made you feel.
For Nichole and Tim, this sandbar wasn’t just a beautiful backdrop. It was a place where they had spent countless days together enjoying the Florida sunshine, relaxing on the water, and making memories. That familiarity allowed them to be completely comfortable with each other, which translated into natural, genuine photographs.

One of my favorite parts of this session wasn’t even the portraits—it was getting there.
Instead of meeting in a parking lot or walking down a beach access path, we hopped aboard their boat and headed out across the sparkling waters of St. Petersburg.
By the time we reached the sandbar, the session already felt like an adventure.
The gentle waves, endless blue skies, and wide-open shoreline created the perfect setting for relaxed, romantic images that felt effortless. Without crowds or distractions, Nichole and Tim were able to simply enjoy being together, and those authentic moments are always my favorite to capture.

This session is a perfect reminder that engagement photos don’t have to happen in the most popular location on Instagram.
The best engagement sessions happen in places that reflect your relationship.
As your photographer, I want your images to tell your story—not someone else’s.
Whether that’s a secluded beach in Florida, a mountaintop in Colorado, your family ranch in Texas, your favorite coffee shop, or a hidden sandbar that’s only accessible by boat, I’m here to help create photographs that feel authentic to who you are.

One of my favorite parts of working with couples is getting to know them before the wedding day.
That’s why every one of my wedding collections includes a complimentary engagement session.
This gives us the opportunity to connect before your wedding, helps you feel confident in front of the camera, and allows me to learn how the two of you naturally interact together.
Even better?
You get to choose the location.
Your engagement session shouldn’t be limited to a list of predetermined spots. Whether your dream location is a Florida beach, your hometown, a mountain overlook, a city skyline, or somewhere that’s deeply personal to your relationship, I’m all for making it happen.
And because I love photographing love stories wherever they unfold, I never charge a travel fee for domestic engagement sessions.
If your story takes us somewhere meaningful, I’m happy to meet you there.

Living in Florida means we have no shortage of incredible engagement session locations—from the beaches of St. Petersburg and Clearwater to the Florida Keys, hidden coastal gems, and beyond.
But no matter where we go, my goal remains the same:
To create timeless photographs that feel like you.
Nichole and Tim’s session is proof that the most meaningful locations often create the most unforgettable images.
